FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. The body of a 64-year-old man was discovered in the water Sunday morning off Bowditch Point Park, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

Fort Myers Beach resident Rodney Lee Mabb was found dead around 8 a.m., according to the FWC. His body was about 15 feet offshore.

FWC crews found his 11-foot motorboat about 300 yards south in Matanzas Pass.

It’s unclear how Mabb died or how he became separated from his boat. The FWC was continuing to investigate Sunday night.
