Wildfire burns 450 acres in Glades County

PALMDALE, Fla. A wildfire burned 450 acres near Highway 74 and Fire Tower Road Saturday afternoon, the Florida Forest Service said.

The fire ignited around 12:45 p.m. Strong winds carried the flames into the Pine and Eucalyptis Plantation, according to fire officials.

An off-road vehicle is believed to have sparked the blaze.

The fire was 80 percent contained by 10 p.m.
