Eagles baseball snaps losing streak with a 4-2 win against Stetson

DELAND, Fla. The FGCU baseball team broke their five-game losing streak and tied the series Saturday with a 4-2 victory over Stetson University.

The Hatters jumped to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning with an unearned run.

But redshirt senior Nick Rivera then tied the game 1-1 with a home run over the left field fence in the top of the sixth.

The Eagles broke the tie in the eighth inning when fellow redshirt senior Corey Fehribach with a clutch RBI single to right field.

Although the Hatters managed to tie the game with another run to the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth, Fehribach came back with another single through the right side to score junior Julio Gonzalez and redshirt junior Gage Morey, making it a 4-2 ballgame.

The Eagles will face the Hatters once again in the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m. at Melching Field.
