Two women were arrested Friday for their alleged roles in a retail theft scheme, the Marco Island Police Department said. Ofelia Orta Dmitrishin, 38, Amarilys Hernandez-Garcia, 45, both of Naples, and three other employees of the Bealls Outlet Store at 684 Bald Eagle Drive have been accused of stealing $1,975.11 worth of merchandise from the store, police said. Surveillance footage from last week showed one employee purchasing merchandise while another worked as a cashier, according to the police department. The merchandise was voided off the sale, but still placed in the bag without payment. The scheme had been going on since February. Dmitrishin, Hernandez-Garcia and the other employees involved were fired, police said. It’s unclear why only Dmitrishin and Hernandez-Garcia were arrested. The investigation is still ongoing, the police department said. Dmitrishin and Hernandez-Garcia both bonded out of jail Saturday and are facing felony retail theft charges.
