LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. A 42-year-old man faces multiple charges for stealing from construction sites, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Multiple thefts have occurred at a construction site at 9470 Sardinia Way in Fort Myers where lumber and appliances were taken from residential units, officials said.

Sheriff’s office investigators, along with Fort Myers police, used surveillance footage to identify a white Chevrolet truck as the suspect vehicle. Authorities followed the vehicle to a home on Ground Dove Circle in Lehigh Acres, where they questioned Amaury Hierro Fernandez, officials said.

Fernandez was arrested after refusing to answer questions, officials said. He is also suspected of stealing from a construction sitein Fort Myers’ Lindsford Community.

Fernandez, 42, faces charges of burglary to a structure, trespass to a construction site and theft under $300.

Investigators spent most of Thursday removing various kitchen appliances, including refrigerators and cabinets, from Fernandez’ home. Neighbors said Fernandez often travelled to Miami and recently built additions to the home.
