Is FGCU’s Joe Dooley considering New Mexico?

FORT MYERS, Fla. FGCU basketball coach Joe Dooley continues to be connected to the head coaching opening at the University of New Mexico.

Dooley used to be an assistant with the Lobos. Although Dooley would be paid a higher salary at New Mexico, the Eagles aren’t shaken by the interest in their head coach.

“He’s such a good coach, there is always going to be rumors,” said junior Christian Terrell. “You kind of just go about it as he’s going to be our coach next year ’cause that’s what we know. We’re just getting ready for next year. He’s going to be our coach from what we know and that’s all we can prepare for.”

The Eagles are predicted to have a better team than the Lobos this upcoming season lead by Brandon Goodwin.

ESPN ranked Goodwin as the 25th best player for next season.
