PUNTA GORDA, Fla. A plane crash landed about half a mile northwest of the Punta Gorda Airport, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said. The crash occurred around 2 p.m. A SNJ5 Navy trainer lost power and was unable to reach the runway, deputies said. The pilot was able to land the plane safely on the belly of the aircraft in a nearby cow pasture. The pilot was uninjured and the copilot suffered only minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. No cows were harmed. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash. No further information is immediately available.
