MONROE, La. (AP) A woman and man are facing multiple charges after marijuana was found on her 10-year-old daughter during a traffic stop in northeastern Louisiana, police said.

Claire Anne Jones, 36, and Terrance Reed, 23, were arrested Monday, The News Star reports. A Louisiana State trooper stopped the vehicle driven by Jones and smelled marijuana coming from inside.

The trooper found a digital scale with marijuana debris on it in Jones’ purse, police said. A bag of marijuana was found underneath Reed’s seat in a pink backpack and in the child’s pants.

Jones told the trooper she had picked up Reed earlier and remarked, “I smell some good green on you,” according to police.

Reed, who sat directly beside her daughter, told her he smoked it all, Jones said to the trooper. She also said Reed was a known drug user.

Reed told troopers the child had “weed in her pants,” according to police. With her mother’s permission, the child removed a plastic bag of marijuana from her pants. Reed is accused of having put the marijuana in the front side of her pants, police said.

Jones, Reed and the girl said Reed brought the pink backpack into the vehicle, and the trooper found mail with Reed’s address in the bag.

Jones is being held at the Ouachita Correctional Center on several charges including possession of drug paraphernalia and improper supervision of a minor by a parent. Reed also faces several charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
