CAPE CORAL, Fla. The victim of a shooting that led to a crash early Sunday morning was under the age of 18, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

The minor was hospitalized but is expected to be OK. The shooter remains at large.

The gunfire came from someone in a car who was following two other people as they drove from a party, according to police. The car carrying the minor crashed into a utility pole near the RaceTrac gas station on 314 Del Prado Blvd N. shortly after the shooting.

The victim and the other person in that car got out and ran behind the RaceTrac, fearing for their lives.

Power was temporarily cut for some businesses in the 200 and 300 blocks of Del Prado Boulevard North, and the road was shut down in both directions for several hours.

No further information is immediately available.
