PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. One person was arrested Sunday in connection to a deadly October crash on U.S. 41, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The three-vehicle crash happened on Oct. 8 at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Easy Street. North Port resident Kelsi Lanier, 18, is accused of not stopping for two vehicles at a red light.

Her 2014 Nissan Sentra hit the rear of a 2014 Chevy Camero, sending the Chevy Camero into the back of a 2001 Hyundai Elantra, according to the FHP.

The crash killed Ashlyn Eaton, 19, of North Port, who was a passenger in Lanier’s car, and left multiple people injured, State troopers said.

Lanier faces charges of one count of DUI manslaughter, three counts of DUI serious bodily injury, three counts of injury to another, and three counts of DUI property damage, according to State troopers.

She tested positive for the following substances: Alprazolam (Xanax), Benzoylecgonine (Carboxylic acid of Cocaine), Alpha-Hydroxy alprazolam and Cannabinoids, State troopers said.

It’s unclear when she’ll appear in court.

No further information was immediately available.
