PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. A man fell from a boat into the Charlotte Harbor but escaped injury, a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission official said.T

Two FWC officials used night vision goggles to rescue the man around 1 a.m., approximately 3 miles south of the Myakka River. He treaded water for nearly two hours before crews found him about a mile from where he fell, officials estimate.

He wasn’t wearing a life preserver, according to the officials. Charlotte County Emergency Medical Services checked him out, but besides feeling cold and weary, he was otherwise uninjured.

It’s unclear what caused the fall, and the incident remains under investigation.

The FWC, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Charlotte County Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the Boca Grande Fire Department and the Coast Guard responded to search the area at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday after learning of the incident.

No other information was immediately available.
