Pedestrian killed in San Carlos Park crash

SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. A 24-year-old pedestrian killed in a crash early Saturday morning on U.S. 41 near Sanibel Boulevard, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred around 1:17 a.m. Adam Torocco, 18, of Fort Myers, was driving southbound on U.S. 41 with passenger Kurt Roach, 20, in his 2013 Dodge Charger.

As Torocco and Roach were approaching Sanibel Boulevard, Torocco struck a man who was trying to cross the roadway, according to the FHP.

The man was knocked into the adjacent lane upon impact. After hitting him, Torocco pulled over onto the south shoulder of San Carlos Boulevard, the FHP said.

The pedestrian’s name hasn’t been released yet.
