Severe thunderstorm warning canceled for Cape Coral, Sanibel

CAPE CORAL, Fla. The National Weather Service canceled a severe thunderstorm warning it issued at about 4 p.m. for southwest Cape Coral, Sanibel and other parts of Lee County.

The warning was initially to last until 4:30 p.m., but the weather service canceled it shortly after 4:15 p.m.

Pea-size hail was spotted, the weather service said.

Radar indicated the line of storms was moving southwest at 20 mph.

Damage to roofs, siding and trees was expected, according to the weather service, but no damage was found in Cape Coral, the fire department there said.
