Harborview Road has reopened after a 7-acre brush fire shut it down near Interstate 75 for about an hour Thursday afternoon, Florida Highway Patrol said. The ramp from southbound I-75 to Harborview also reopened, but the on-ramp from eastbound Harborview to southbound I-75 remains closed. The fire is 95 percent contained, Charlotte County fire spokeswoman Dee Hawkins-Garland said. East Port Environmental Campus, a Charlotte County government building at 25550 Harborview Road, Unit 1, was evacuated, according to Charlotte County Fire and Emergency Medical Services. That building has since reopened. Crews are using a nearby retention lake to help put out the fire, Hawkins-Garland said.
