Pedestrian killed in Collier County crash

EAST NAPLES, Fla. One person died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning near the intersection of U.S. 41 and Thomasson Lane, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver of a 2014 Honda headed southbound attempted to avoid the collision with the pedestrian, who was crossing U.S. 41, but couldn’t, according to the FHP. The Honda struck the pedestrian and crashed into a wall.

The victim’s identity is unclear. The wreck happened at around 12 a.m., troopers said.

Charges are pending a further investigation, according to the FHP. Anyone with information should call the FHP at 239-938-1800.
