Home invasion puts Sanibel residents on edge

SANIBEL, Fla. A man broke into a recreational vehicle while at least one resident was home early Saturday morning, the Sanibel Police Department said.

The man also tried to break into other occupied RVs in the Periwinkle Park and Campground on 1119 Periwinkle Way, according to police. He remains at large.

Police and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office began searching for the suspect after the break-in took place at about 1 a.m. Sanibel police chief William Dalton urged those in the area to keep their doors locked.
