Woman killed in North Fort Myers hit-and-run

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. A woman was killed after a hit-and-run crash near U.S. 41 and Pine Island Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. after a driver in an older van hit her near the McDonald’s.

The westbound lanes of Pine Island Road are blocked, according to the FHP.

Drivers are urged to avoid the corner until about 7 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash remains under investigation.

If anyone has any information regarding an older model van, possibly grey, silver or maroon, with a fixed ladder on the back, please contact Crimestoppers or FHP at 239-938-1800. The van was last seen traveling westbound on Pine Island Road and possibly entered into the nearby Home Depot Parking Lot.
