Bonita Springs girl found; was missing since January

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. A 14-year-old girl missing since January has been found safe, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Kayla Joy Manwell had last been seen at about 8 a.m. Jan. 9 at her home on 10208 Shade Tree Court. She left without permission and was thought to be in danger, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office began searching for her the day she went missing and asked for the public’s help. It’s unclear where she was found or why the search, which spanned nearly seven weeks, took as long as it did.

No further information is immediately available.
