NAPLES, Fla. A 45-year-old man accused of stealing nearly $4,000 worth of merchandise from Victoria’s Secret is in custody, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

A deputy spotted Luis Padin, of Hialeah, Florida, leaving Coastland Center Mall with a wrinkled Hugo Boss bag and talking on his cellphone around 4 p.m. Friday.

The deputy noted that the mall doesn’t have a Hugo Boss store and tried to approach Padin.

When Padin saw him, he immediately changed direction and began walking quickly, deputies said.

The deputy called out to Padin and tried to stop him, but Padin continued to avoid the deputy and started running.

However, Padin didn’t get very far.

The deputy caught up to Padin and tased him in the Sears parking lot, the sheriff’s office said. Mall security recovered the dropped Hugo Boss bag and found almost 300 items valued at $3,986.00.

Palin is facing charges of grand theft and resisting arrest.

No bond has been set.
