LAKELAND, Fla. The Gulf Coast High School girls basketball team advanced to the Final Four for the first time in program history this season.

However, sophomore point guard Mya Giusto suffered a knee injury early in the game against Winter Haven High School in the Class 8A state semifinal, leaving the Sharks scrambling to replace her on the court.

“It was heartbreaking,” said junior guard Jordan Cloutier. “She’s like my sister, I don’t ever want to see her hurt.”

The Sharks ended up losing to the Blue Devils 41-68.
