PUNTA GORDA, Fla. The identity of a 60-year-old woman killed in a Saturday crash has been released, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. Lissette Maradiaga, of Boynton Beach, was stopped at the intersection of Bermont Road and State Road 31 heading west while Hussein Al-Khazraji, 32, of Orlando, was traveling south on Bermont Road toward the intersection. When Maradiaga tried to cross into the southbound lane of State Road 31, her Mini Cooper was slammed by Al-Khazraji’s GMC vehicle, the FHP said. Maradiaga’s car spun off the road and landed in a ditch while Al-Khazraji’s vehicle came to a rest nearby. Maradiaga was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries Thursday, the FHP said. Al-Khazraji wasn’t injured. The crash is under investigation. It’s the sixth straight day someone has died on Southwest Florida roads. At least one person was killed Thursday in a crash near mile marker 64 on Interstate 75. One person was killed Sunday in Charlotte County, and a pedestrian died Monday in Lehigh Acres. Two pedestrians were hit and killed Tuesday — one in Arcadia and the other in Englewood. A passenger was killed in a four-car wreck Wednesday in Golden Gate Estates.
