New SWFL organization uses dogs to help veterans battling PTSD

CAPE CORAL, Fla. A new Southwest Florida organization is giving new life to dogs and veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Since its inception in November, Wolfhounds Legacy has been working with local dog rescues with the goal of rescuing and training dogs to become certified service animals for the benefit of disabled veterans with PTSD free of charge.

“I wish I had this a long time ago. I never had this opportunity to work with a group like this,” said Navy veteran David Link. “It’s needed.”

The organization is already working with the American Military Veterans Foundation, a Cape Coral-based group that also helps veterans struggling with PTSD.

The Wolfhounds Legacy will host its grand opening Friday at Mike Greenwell’s Bat-A-Ball & Family Fun Park from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The event is open to the public.
