2 injured in overnight Cape Coral shooting

CAPE CORAL, Fla. Two people sustained minor injuries in a shooting Sunday night along the 3300 block of SE 15th Avenue, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

Officers responded at around 11:30 p.m.

Approximately five or six men approached a home, and one man began firing in the direction of the two victims, according to the incident report.

The group of men then turned and ran westbound along Southeast 34th Street. While one of the victims ran after them, he was unable to identify the gunman, according to an incident report.

One victim was shot in the leg and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. The other victim did not require medical treatment, according to incident reports.

The Major Crimes Unit and Forensics Unit were called to the scene, and an investigation is ongoing.
