Truck driver found dead outside Lehigh Acres home

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A 29-year-old truck driver was found dead outside his home early Monday morning.

Investigators responded to 1107 Adeline Ave., where they found the body of Jontavious Thomas.

He was on his way to work when he was killed, family members said.

Relatives remained at the scene, which deputies responded to at about 6 a.m., throughout the day.

They cried, prayed and hugged one another behind the crime scene tape.

“I couldn’t believe it. Not John, not John,” said an aunt, Phyllis Hallman. “Nobody would want to hurt him.”

Hallman described her nephew as someone who was likable and would give his shirt to someone in need.

“John is always a friendly person,” she continued. “I didn’t know of anyone he had a problem with.”

Thomas married his high school sweetheart last year.

No arrests have been made.
