PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — A 48-year-old man is in custody following a road rage incident, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said. Mark Salinardi, 3601 Sleepy Hollow Lane, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly punching a 76-year-old woman in the face after rear-ending her last month near the Wal-Mart on Taylor Road. The woman was stopped at a light in the left turn lane when Salinardi’s green Honda Accord hit her blue Jaguar XJR, deputies said. When the woman stepped out to assess the damage and confront Salinardi, he got out of his car and yelled expletives at her, according to deputies, who said he then punched her and fled the scene. Deputies used surveillance footage from Wal-Mart to help them track down Salinardi. He’s in custody with $40,000 bond facing charges of battery on a person 65 years or older and leaving the scene of a crash.
