Collier car chase leads to accident, drug bust

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. — A 22-year-old man is in custody following a high-speed chase that led to a four-car crash and a drug bust, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

Claudelle Philistin, of Naples, was arrested Wednesday after hitting multiple cars while fleeing deputies down Golden Gate Parkway.

This marks the second car chase in the county within the last two days.

The pursuit began around 4:30 p.m. on the Golden Gate exit ramp of Interstate 75 after an unsuccessful traffic stop, deputies said.

During the chase, Philistin crashed into four cars before leading deputies on a foot chase near mile marker 105.

However, deputies were able to catch Philistin. When they returned to search his gold Kia, they uncovered marijuana, “Molly,” and stacks of money in his trunk, as well as a Glock handgun.

Some of the people involved in the crashes were transported to the hospital, but everyone is expected to be OK, deputies said.

Philistin is in custody facing charges of armed trafficking, fleeing police and leaving the scene of an accident.

He is currently on probation and his bond will be set by a judge, according to arrest reports.
