Police seek thieves connected to Cape Coral mail theft

Published: Updated:

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — At least two mailboxes were robbed by a group of unknown thieves Wednesday.

Pam Baxter was sitting in her home on Southeast when she notices a brown cat drive up to her neighbor’s mailbox, then hers.

She initially thought they were passing out flyers. But when she checked later, the bills she was mailing out were missing.

Baxter believed the thieves were targeting homes that were sending out mail, so she posted the incident on the NextDoor website to alert her neighbors.

A similar incident occurred at another neighborhood less than a month ago in which three mailboxes were burglarized.

Mail theft is considered a federal offense. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cape Coral Police Department at (239) 574-3223.
