PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – An investigation into the human remains of two people discovered Thursday in a burning car was upgraded to a homicide Friday, Charlotte County deputies said. The remains, identified as two men, were found in a car at 45991 Bermont Road, deputies said. The car was parked on the road that leads to a group home and was fully engulfed in flames, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Skip Conroy. The remains were discovered once the fire was extinguished. Deputies and state fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire and working to determine the identity of the remains. The fire is considered suspicious. No further information was immediately available.
