IMMOKALEE, Fla. — A 55-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly punching and robbing a man outside of Zacatecas Restaurant, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

John Pickett, of 101 Eustis Ave., is facing an unarmed robbery charge after surveillance footage showed him attacking Mateo Aguilar and rummaging through his pockets for money.

Deputies responded to the restaurant Tuesday regarding a call about a robbery. Waitress Juana Romero found Aguilar bleeding profusely in the back of the restaurant.

Arrest reports show Aguilar told police an unknown suspect punched and robbed him, taking $70 in cash and his cell phone.

Deputies were able to track down and arrest Pickett after reviewing surveillance footage.

While they are glad Picket no longer poses a threat, employees are still worried about someone lurking nearby when they leave the restaurant at night.

“It makes everyone scared, yeah definitely,” said manager Juan Lopez “We were already scared, now it’s worse.”

Pickett is currently in custody and being held without bond.
