ESTERO, Fla. — One person died after a wreck around 8:30 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 41 near Estero Parkway, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Clarence Johnson, 23, of Fort Myers, was in a stopped vehicle in the left turning lane of U.S. 41 onto Estero Parkway. He exited the vehicle and began walking across the lanes of U.S. 41, according to a press release, and was struck by a 2006 Ford F-150 that was driving in the center lane. It is unclear why Johnson was walking through lanes of a busy road. He was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. No additional injuries were reported.
