PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — City Council will discuss a proposal to tax homeowners to finance a planned $1.5 million canal that would provide faster access to Charlotte Harbor. Residents of the Bird Section of Punta Gorda Isles could wind up having to pay $964 each. The public hearing on the proposal will take place during the council meeting at 9 a.m. Wednesday in council chambers at City Hall on 326 W. Marion Ave.
