NORTH NAPLES, Fla. — Nearly 750 people took part in an effort Sunday to help Collier County families in need. The Living Word Family Church gathered 333 bicycles and other items through the effort that encouraged the church’s congregants to shop at the Wal-Mart on 5420 Juliet Blvd. and donate what they bought to the Salvation Army. The Mission Christmas Outreach is an annual event. Last year, 300 bikes were donated. “We just want to encourage people to think about the community that they live in and be a part of helping other people, not just thinking about themselves,” said Rob Smith, the church’s associate pastor.
