Bicyclist, injured in crash, demands hospital ride from driver

NAPLES, Fla. – A 19-year-old who was injured on his bicycle after being hit by a car demanded that the driver take him to the hospital Thursday.

Noel Giovanni Marquez’ leg was fractured in the crash, which happened at the northbound entrance ramp at Pine Ridge Road just after 5:30 p.m.

But even with his injury, Marquez refused to be seen or transported to the hospital by Collier County medics. It wasn’t that he did not want medical attention. Marquez told troopers he did not want the hefty bills that come with an ambulance ride.

Instead, Marquez insisted that the driver take him to the hospital.

And it looks like the teen got his way. He was treated and released from Physician’s Regional Medical Center, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The identity of the driver who hit Marquez was listed as “unknown” in the crash report. Marquez gave the driver his bike, FHP said.

Troopers are still investigating the wreck.
