NAPLES, Fla. – The ape who sent authorities on a chase after she escaped from the zoo was discovered dead in Lake Victoria on Thursday. Sumba the Gibbon disappeared Monday. She was found after fears that she had drowned, though at least two people said they heard or saw her at the Gordon River Greenway Park on Tuesday. Naples Zoo CEO Jack Mulvena said the gibbon’s call is recognizable. “Typically, the animal will be up in the tree and has a distinct call. You would not be able to confuse the call,” he said. Sumba was found before noon, Courtney Jolly, a zoo spokesperson said.
