SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. — Six months after Diana Alvarez went missing, many questions remain about the San Carlos Park 9-year-old.

Authorities suspended their physical search, just weeks after she was last seen at her home on Unique Circle on May 29. Her family continues to pursue leads as they cling to hope.

It took four days for authorities to issue an AMBER Alert for the girl. The alert said she might have been with Jorge Guerrero, a former family friend. Guerrero and is in jail on child pornography charges, but he hasn’t been formally charged in connection to Alvarez.

The girl’s disappearance is one of multiple high-profile unsolved cases in Lee County.

Tuesday marks four months and four days since the mass shooting at Club Blu that killed two and injured 18 others. Arrests have been made on the periphery of the case, but it’s still uncertain who pulled the trigger.

October marked one year since one person was killed and five others injured during Zombicon, a zombie-themed downtown Fort Myers festival.

Zombicon and Club Blu have elicited multiple civil lawsuits, but no substantial arrests have been made.
