NAPLES, Fla. — The suspect shot by a Naples police officer Friday at Cove Inn on Naples Bay was brandishing a knife, the department said.

The suspect is recovering at Lee Memorial Hospital, and the officer has been placed on administrative leave. Neither has been identified, and the suspect’s condition is unclear.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating what took place at the downtown resort hotel on 900 Broad Ave S. Police said they were responding to a domestic-violence incident.

It’s unknown whether the suspect used or attempted to use the knife.
