PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Charlotte County detectives arrested a suspect Tuesday for allegedly making a fake bomb threat at the State Probation Office on East Marion Avenue. Tiffany Beasley, of Punta Gorda, told detectives in a sworn statement she made the false bomb threat because she was worried her girlfriend would fail her drug test on Monday. An employee stated they received a call at 4:23 p.m. indicating that a bomb would be detonating at 4:22 p.m. The staff immediately called 911 and evacuated the building. After the evacuation, police officers conducted a sweep of the building and no bombs were found. It was noted that state officers were conducting drug testing on individuals on probation that day. Beasley was transported to the Charlotte County Jail where was charged with making a false report of planting a bomb or explosive device. No bond was set.
