Naples caregiver arrested for sneaky fraud, theft

NAPLES, Fla. – A former caregiver is was arrested Thursday for allegedly stealing then attempting to cash 12 checks amounting to $5,983 in September.

Quanariel Stevenson, 25, of Naples, is facing charges for fraud and theft from an elderly person.

Frances Albergo said she received a call from her credit union about suspicious behavior, according to a Naples Police Department report. The bank representative mentioned Stevenson, whom Albergo had hired through Senior Matters Home Health Care.

Stevenson had been working for Albergo for three months. Albergo said she never noticed the caregiver take anything from her, but Stevenson did not return to Albergo’s home after the elderly woman received the calls about possible fraud.

Stevenson was released from jail. Her bond was $10,000.
