NAPLES, Fla. — Naples police are searching for two men who robbed a jewelry store on Friday, according to Lieutenant Seth Gunman.

The suspects entered Provident Jewelry, an upscale retailer located on 5th Avenue South, wearing motorcycle clothing and helmets around 4:35 p.m.

One of the suspects held the store at gunpoint while the other put several expensive watches into a backpack, according to the Naples Police Department.

JoAnn Cornelison, who was dining across the street, believes she saw the suspects prior to the armed robbery.

“There were two people on a motorcycle and it kind of threw me because they revved the engine and flew through the intersection,” Cornelison said.

Both suspects fled north on 5th Avenue South riding the same motorcycle with the stolen merchandise, police said.

However, Jared Kaplan, the store’s managing partner, still plans to conduct business as usual Saturday morning.

“We’re going to regroup in the morning and be back open for business tomorrow,” Kaplan said.

It is unclear how much merchandise the suspects escaped with and they are not believed to be within the city limits.
