FORT MYERS, Fla. – An unidentified man tried to dump legal files containing personal information at a Super Target store Wednesday morning, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said. The man walked around the store, located at 13711 S. Tamiami Trail, where he placed manila envelopes in trash cans before a Starbucks employee noticed, authorities said. He purchased a Captain America costume and asked for extra shopping bags before walking to his car to get more envelopes, store employees said. After the man left, the store manager recovered the files, some of which were from Berke and Lubell Attorneys at Law of Cape Coral. Some of the files had names and social security numbers. The store manager then contacted the law firm and deputies. A woman who said she worked with the law firm later arrived and asked for the files, store employees told deputies. This woman claimed to know the man who dumped the files in the trash, they said. The law firm declined to comment.
