TECO gas leak causes lane closures in Charlotte County

Published: Updated:

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Another TECO gas leak at the intersection of Kings Highway and Midway Boulevard was reported on Thursday, closing all four lanes on US 41.

A construction worker said Thursday’s gas leak occurred because the patch TECO put on Wednesday’s gas leak didn’t hold up.

It is the third in a sequence of Charlotte County TECO gas leaks. The first was reported on Oct. 14 at US 41 and Port Charlotte Boulevard. The second and third have been on Kings Highway and Midway Boulevard.

TECO Peoples Gas issued a statement saying that the reported gas leaks have been caused by third parties, such as construction crews, damaging their gas lines.
