Red tide continues to menace Collier County

Published: Updated:

FORT MYERS, Fla. — High concentrations of red tide were found in some of the seven water samples taken along the Collier County coast over the past week, particularly around Marco Island, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.

Fish kills have been reported in Collier County, and people have cited respiratory irritation after visiting the Lee and Charlotte county coasts. Both are conditions commonly associated with red tide.

Medium levels of red tide concentration have been found in Lee, while the concentrations are low in Charlotte, the FWC said.
