The merchandise the accused thief was after was an amplifier, which can produce really loud noise when attached to car speakers. Amplifiers are not small pieces of equipment. Pioneer, the brand the man is accused of stealing, makes amplifiers that are as many as 17 inches long and 11 inches wide.

The man was a repeat offender, deputies said, pulling the same trick to steal two amplifiers.

After exiting the Walmart, he was seen reentering the store, finding a second amplifier in the automotive section and hiding it in his pants, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. Surveillance video then shows him leave the store without paying, deputies said.

He got away with $216 dollars of merchandise, deputies said. Now they are asking for help identifying him.

Anyone with information is asked to call 941-639-2101 and ask for Det. Sgt. Richard Kaufman.
