FORT MYERS, Fla. — A gas leak at an area business shut down part of Metro Parkway Tuesday morning, Lee County Sheriff’s Office reports. Although there is one southbound lane open, both directions of Metro Parkway between East Pine Parkway and Commerce Park Drive are closed, the sheriff’s office said. Motorcyclists shouldn’t drive through the scene and find other means of direction. It’s unclear what kind of gas leaked. A White House task force is releasing a report Tuesday that recommends dozens of safety changes for the nation’s 400 underground natural gas storage wells, The Associated Press reports, though none of them are in Florida. No additional information was immediately available.
