boatfire10162016NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Several boats were seriously damaged after a fire Saturday night at Paradise Marina in Fort Myers.

The owner attempted to extinguish the fire but wasn’t able to. One woman was transported to a hospital with second and third-degree burns on her arm and two families are displaced.

The woman told WINK News she had to jump off her boat to escape the flames and that her cat died in the fire. A dog also died.

“It was insane. It was just an inferno,” said Mark Mishler, who witnessed the blaze. “It went from boat to boat to boat. Five minutes, it was all over with.”

The state fire marshal and North Fort Myers Fire Control & Rescue District officials are investigating the fire to determine a cause.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the victims of the fire.
