Suspect sought in Lee County tire slashing spree

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers need help identifying an unknown suspect who slashed the tires of 15 cars along Pine Island Road in Matlacha Thursday evening.

The first incident was discovered around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when an employee of Miceli’s Restaurant was told his tires had been slashed.

Upon further investigation, 14 other vehicles were found damaged along the roadside of 3922 Pine Island Road NW, with tires slashed on every one of them, causing thousands of dollars in damage.

A red box cutter was also found near the affected cars.

Nearby surveillance cameras captured images of the man. He is believed to be between 25 and 35 years old with a medium build.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s identity should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8447). All callers will remain anonymous and will eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
