NAPLES, Fla. — Collier County commissioners are blaming County Clerk Dwight Brock for still not paying vendors.

Brock filed a lawsuit earlier this year against the county manager, stating that county money shouldn’t be spent on administrative needs without the county commissioner’s permission.

However, the judge dismissed the lawsuit and Brock hasn’t been paying vendors for the last several months because of the trial.

Kyle Abraham, who has worked for the county for 20 years, complained that Brock has only paid $188,000 of the $205,000 that he owes.

“You cant do it forever,” Abraham said. “We have guys we need to pay and they have families. We have subs, we have already paid and everything is under the bridge, so we are the guys sitting here with no money.”

Abraham and dozens of other vendors have only started receiving money this week.

An appeals hearing to determine whether the case will continue will be held Friday at the Collier County Courthouse at 9:30 a.m.
