Sanibel restaurant sues Blue Bell Ice Cream

SANIBEL, Fla. — Schnappers Hots, a well-known restaurant on the island, is suing Blue Bell Ice Cream for hurting its business.

David Acheson, Schnappers’ owner, partnered with Blue Bell Ice Cream years ago until the ice cream was recalled for being linked to a lysteria outbreak.

“We immediately called Blue Bell and Blue Bell told us everything was fine,” Acheson said. “Of course the news was telling us differently.”

However, Acheson said that ice cream sales were dropping and Schnapper’s reputation was being dragged along with it.

“We’ve probably lost customers we may never see again,” Acheson said.

While Acheson has switched to a new supplier, he wants Blue Bell to repay him for the money he lost and the damage to his reputation.
