CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A local woman gets her money back after a WINK News Call for Action story aired.

Rita Fittro said she paid $10,980 in January as a down payment to Zlatan “Goldy” Krekic of Croat Pavers of Florida for a new pool, pool cage and driveway.

The Fittros found out in August that Krekic wasn’t licensed to get the job done and asked for a refund. Two months later, and she still had not gotten her money back.

One day after her story aired on WINK News, Krekic paid them back with a check post-dated for November 20.

“We purchased the materials for the job, so we have that money and the material and everything and I couldn’t sell materials fast enough,” Krekic said when asked why the check was post-dated. “So what we did was we sold one of our properties to pay them back.”

Fittro, happy she finally has a check, said she hopes next month will be good when she cashes it.

“We feel much better and we really want to thank WINK News and the city of Cape Coral, Jim Litterello, you all have gone over and above,” Fittro said. “It’s really been helpful. It’s tough to lose that kind of money and now we at least have hope by November 20 that it will go through and we can move on from this.”
