Sketch released in attempted Lee County juvenile abduction

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A sketch of a man suspected of attempting to kidnap a Lee County juvenile was released Monday afternoon.

The teenager was waiting for a school bus in front of the Monterra Apartments on Dovewood Court in Bonita Springs at about 9 a.m. Friday when a man approached the juvenile in a bright orange convertible “with a rough paint job” and black top, exited the vehicle and told the juvenile to get in, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were told the vehicle had dark tinted windows and chrome wheels. Authorities believe the vehicle may be an older Mitsubishi Eclipse, Mazda RX-7, or Toyota Celica.

“The male reached out to grab the victim, but missed as the victim ran home for help,” the department said in a statement.

The man is described as 30-40 years old, short and skinny with short black spiked hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray or white t-shirt, the sheriff’s office said.

“The male was described as ‘dirty’ as if he worked as a mechanic or in construction,” authorities said.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 800-780-TIPS.
